Ripon is a spooky place...

This Halloween, there's an extra special treat awaiting story-lovers in North Yorkshire – and quite a few tricks too...

Our storyteller David Ault has recently been performing with the Ripon Ghost Walk, sharing tales of ghouls and ghostly goings on around every corner – from haunted hotels to eerie alleys.

And this Friday at 7:30pm is their Halloween Special for Kids, aimed at ghost-hunters aged 6–11 (with accompanying adults). Adults can get an extra seasoning of gruesomeness on Halloween itself at the same time...

You'll hear fascinating stories and spooky tales as you explore the most haunted spots in this ancient town. No audience participation is required – but if you spot a spook along the way, be sure to point them out!

To join in, just turn up at the Cabman's Shelter (right next to the four red phoneboxes on Ripon Market Square) for a 7:30pm start – there's no need to book. Expect to be back before the Ripon Hornblower sets the watch at 9pm (and he's a real living person, honest – he just looks a bit spectral...).

Each walk is £2 for adults, £1 for under-16s. Hope to scare you there!
